The girls are having a blast getting to know ALL parts of the fair this week. I'm sure by Friday evening they will be ready to rest all weekend. Enjoy a look inside our fair from the view of a Queen's Court member!

We have had an amazing fair week so fair.  These ladies always have a smile on their face and are willing and ready to do whatever is asked of them.  We are so fortunate to have a great group of girls representing the Hancock County 4-H Fair!

Things to remember...

Just a few reminders leading up to the fair....

  • Practice - Friday, June 21st at 3:00 p.m. at the 4-H Bowl.  If the weather is bad we will meet at the Pioneer Building.  Practice this year is important as always due to the large number of contestants and positioning on the stage.   If you have a conflict with practice you will need to let us know immediately so we can try and make other arrangements with you.
  • Pageant - Saturday, June 22nd.  Be dressed and ready no later than 6:30 p.m. at the 4-H Bowl.  You will be modeling your business wear and formal wear.  These need to be the SAME outfits that you wore during judging.
  • Parade - Parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. but we are the first float to lead the parade.  Therefore, you must be dressed in your formal and lined up ready to load and go at 1:30 p.m.  Again, please be in your same formal unless we have directed you otherwise.  It is also inappropriate for you to wear flip flops, tennis shoes, or cowboy boots with your formal dresses.
Please remember that if you are to win something the night of the pageant you are expected to be at a meeting in the extension office Sunday morning at 11 a.m.  Queen duties actually begin at 8 am on Sunday for the Rabbit show.  Some of the Queen's court members will need to be there.

Also, everyone should bring an extra outfit to the pageant.  An outfit that you could wear should you be crowned Queen, Princess, Miss Congeniality, or Queen's Court.  It is likely you will want to walk around the fairgrounds with your sash and dressing nicely and appropriately are part of the duties.  Again, no tennis shoes or cowboy boots with your dresses/skirts during the week of the fair should you receive a title.  The Queen and her court members should strive to make good impressions throughout the week dressing nicely, appropriately, and professionally.

A look inside judging...

25 contestants and 3 judges met yesterday for the Hancock County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant.  Judging began at 9 am and ended around 1:30.  Throughout the day girls were interviewed for at least 3 minutes and judged on their modeling skills in both the business wear and formal wear.  The stress was over at the end of the day with a quick photo session outside thanks to Dawn Wallace with The Photography Barn!

Here's a look inside judging day at our beautiful 25 contestants....
