It was quite a long week for the queen and her court members, but a great one! The hot days were overcome with beautiful smiles and proud members to represent Hancock County each and every day. As the week cooled down just a bit the days didn't seem quite as long. Pictures of the ladies throughout the week to come!

We haven't shared with you enough how much we ADORE the work of Dawn Wallace at The Photography Barn. She is absolutely amazing and so very talented. Dawn always seems to capture the best moments from our queen pageant. She spends the day with us on judging and the entire evening with us at the queen pageant. She always goes above and beyond by getting something "fun" for the girls to get their photos taken with at the end of a long judging day. Please be sure to use Dawn for all your photography needs. You won't regret it!

Yesterday was the 2011 Hancock County 4-H Fair Queen Juding at Brandywine Community Church. The day was a success ending about 3 p.m. Prior to the girls leaving we did end the day with some wonderful photos in front of tractors compliments of Smith Implements and the magic wonders of Dawn Wallace and The Photography Barn. On June 18, 2011 the Queen Brunch and Workshop was held at NineStar Connect's south campus off of U.S. 40. 17 contestants attended with their guest to enjoy brunch and guest speakers Miss 2011 Indiana State Fair Queen Sara Alford and Miss 2010 Hancock County Melissia Grant.

Welcome! We have several events coming up and they are approaching quickly!
June 18th - Brunch and Workshop
This will be held at the Ninestar Connect south campus off of US 40 just east of St. Rd. 9. The brunch will begin at 10 a.m. and go to approximately noon. Please bring ONE adult female guest of your choice. The 2011 State Fair Queen and her mother will be in attendance, as well as our 2010 Hancock County Fair Queen, Melissia Grant and her mother. Following brunch with our female guests will be the workshop where you can receive makeup, interview, modeling, outfit, and shoe tips. We will practice with real interview questions, discuss your options for formal and professional wear, and go over make-up tips for stage presence. The mothers/female guests can also spend time asking questions separately.
June 22nd - Ice Cream Social
The location for this is undetermined at this time, but will start at 5:30 p.m. most likely. This will be an informal chance for you to get to know all the contestants that are part of the pageant and just HAVE FUN!
June 29th - Contest Judging
This is held at Brandywine Community Church. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and interviews begin at 11 a.m.
July 8th - Pageant Practice
This is held at the 4-H bowl (weather permitting) at 3p.m. and will be a chance for you to become familiar with the stage and our escorts and get walking practice in. Remember, at this point judging is over but you want to be ready for the pageant the next evening and knowing where to sit, stand, and walk is important!
July 9th - Pageant
We have bumped the time up this year to 7 p.m. This will be held at the 4-H bowl, but in case of rain we will move it to the show arena. This is the moment the results will be read! YOU MUST BE HERE!
July 10th - Parade
We will be the first float in the parade and you need to arrive in your formal by 1:30 p.m. to get set up. We suggest you bring a towel to sit on, umbrella just in case (weather permitting), and candy to throw if you're interested.

We had a wonderful turnout for our workshop and Fiesta. All 16 girls attended and had a great time getting to know each other. They learned interview skills, modeling, and putting on make-up. We had great Fiesta Food and cookies! I will be posting pictures later!

Our next event will be the Pizza Party at Mohawk UMC at 6pm on Wednesday, June 23.

You can wear casual clothes and come prepared to have a great time!

*Central Indiana Power’s sponsorship ends with the crowning of the 4-H Queen. A schedule of activities for the Queen and her Court, to be used at the County Fair 4-H events, will be furnished by the 4-H Queen Committee. The Hancock County Queen will enter the Indiana State Fair Queen Contest in August, if she complies with the State Fair rules and regulations.

Queen Pageant is tonight to crown the 2009 Hancock County Fair Queen.

Christine will crown and sash....Miss Congeniality, 3 court members, Princess, and the Queen starting at 8pm.

Contestants need to be there early and ready.

Our entertainment will start playing at 7:30pm. Matthew D (singer) and KP (bass) from Rural Route 3 will be playing.

Brad Brown from Channel 6 will be our Emcee for this evening.

Indiana State Fair Queen

After the workshop today we had a luau. The 2009 Indiana State Fair Queen joined us as well as 2008 Hancock County 4-H Fair Queen. The girls invited a lady guest to join them for lunch. We discussed the plans for the pageant, the queens talked to the girls and gave a speech, the ladies got to ask questions while the contestants played games. We played limbo, hawaiian sack race, show us your best dance move, and pterodactyl! They had a blast playing games. When the ladies rejoined us after question/answer time we played musical beach towels.

The pageant had to be shortened because of rain. The past queens were introduced and then the girls modeled their formal wear. 2007 Fair Queen Emily Parker gave her farewell speech. Then Tom Seng announced Miss Congeniality, Court members, Princess, and the 2008 Fair Queen. Christine took her first walk as fair queen right before the rain started!

Today was a hot day, but we practiced for the pageant tomorrow. Some of the dads came to practice escorting their daughters. Everything went well. Tomorrow is the day we find out who will be the 2009 Hancock County Fair Queen.

Well judging day is finished and now the girl are awaiting the results! I am sure it feels like forever waiting. It was a long judging day. It lasted around 6 hours.

The girls were very helpful and kind to one another. I think they all had a good time.

The day started off at 11 am with interviews. They were finished around 2:30pm. LONG TIME!
Then the girls modeled their business wear and then their formals. We finished the day with pictures of the whole group inside and out on a combine.

NEXT event: July 12 -6:00pm 4-H Bowl for cookies and punch with current contestants and past queens.
Then at 7:30pm will be the contest.

We are expecting a large crowd with all the past queens coming back to celebrate the 50th year of the QUEEN PAGEANT

We had a great turnout for the queen fiesta and the food was delicious. We had food, speeches, limbo, and the sombrero game. It was a lot of fun.

The next event will be June 30 -- Queen Judging at Brandywine Church in Greenfield. It is on the corner of Blue Road and New Road.

Make sure you practice for your interviews and walking in your shoes. Make a list of all the things you need to bring with you so you do not forget anything.

We are getting ready to celebrate the 50th year of the Hancock 4-H Fair Queen Pageant sponsored by Central Indiana Power.

We are in the process of contacting the former fair queens to bring them back this summer to celebrate the 5oth year.
